I figured it’s about 2hrs more to drive than the total time to fly and arrive at my destination. Even allowing for car rental and gas expense , I’ll probably save $100-$200 vs. plane ticket plus car rental plus gas. Now that I’m retired, there’s no restraints on my time.

While it’s been about 6 years since I last made the trip, there was a stretch of road going east from Denver that had no gas stations for maybe about 50 or more miles. I’ll have to look it up, but unless something has changed, people need to be advised of this and plan ahead to avoid running out of gas in the middle of nowhere.
